A meditation for regaining control of your five senses, so that you can begin to enter the incredible world of the other 17(more of which have probably been discovered) senses, aside and along with these basic five....

Begin by finding a relaxing place to rest your body while you contemplate.

Calm down your nerves by practicing Pranayama, or your favorite slow breathing excercise.

Now, shut off your ears(earplugs or hands help).
Concentrate on the vision of your eyes. On the feelings your skin picks up. On the taste of the air around you. On the particular smells of your immediate environment.

Next close your eyes.
Concentrate on minute sounds. On hard-to-pick-up sensations in the air. On subtle tastes. On alien smells.

Pinch your nose closed.
Concentrate on visual colours and textures and nearly imperceptible movements.
On varied sounds. On differing tastes. Compare feelings. Compare smells.

Shut off your touch sensors(this may require a very deep journey into the meditative state, or a few drinks involving America's favorite downer).
Just see. Hear. Smell. Taste. And do all of these things WITHOUT using your fingers.

Next, shut off your tongue.
Eat with your nose. Smell and taste with your eyes. Feel food. Hear Colour.
